Homecoming Parade 2011

Friday, September 2nd was my high school's homecoming- they let the middle school tag along in their parade {wasn't that nice?!}. One of my cousins, Dani Paige, was voted 5th grade maid. I tried to get a good shot, but they didn't turn out so well. Just imagine they are perfect!

Mom and I went to the parade that Friday on our lunch break. It was about 105 degrees and we had to walk a mile quickly to get to it on time. I felt like my shoes were melting into the asphalt!

"K" is for Kindergarten

Chloe started Kindergarten Thursday, August 4th, 2011. I didn't go stalk her; I didn't cry, but thougth I might. She was such a "big girl" and "shooed" her mom right out of the room. {Much different than when her mom was in school :)}

This is her first school project and it's Squiddy the Jellyfish. She named "her" and I made her. Sort of. They do a theme every year for the first day and this year was oceans. The day before school, we ALL {Mammy, Pappy, Momma, Aunt Cassie & Chloe} sat down at the table and tried to create Squiddy. We pretty much followed the rules and this is what we got...

 Pink curling ribbon, Saran Wrap, construction paper, buttons, freakishly moving eyes, tape, glue and some lack of patience later and Squiddy was born! :)

Note to self: update and enhance craft box immediately.

I have a feeling this was an "easy" one.

Mississippi School of Banking

Last year SOUTHBank sent me to Oxford, MS for my first year in the Mississippi School of Banking. We had a small class of 40 so we all became friends. Our first year consisted of classes from Sunday-Saturday. We sat in a freezing cold room from 8am-5pm or later everyday and listened to speakers talk and talk and talk and talk some more. Every now and then we had a few good speakers! After listening all we long we had a HARD exam on Saturday morning. Thankfully, I passed that exam and entered into the 2nd year of banking school.

Fast forward a year! I had a few homework assignments to complete before I could start my second year. They weren't easy, but thanks to a few loan officers, I passed! :) So, Sunday, April 11 I drive to Oxford for the week. There I meet up with my friends and we catch up on the past year. Then we had classes until 10pm! Second year was much more fun than my first year. We spent our time still having speakers but also doing group work. I love group work! I can finally talk and NOT listen to a boring man stand up and speak about his past experiences with auditors and bankers. The first few days were great. You do your classwork then group work and then you are done for the night!

Then Wednesday rolls around and you spend every waking minute working on your group work and presentation. Wednesday was a late night, but Thursday? Thursday I got in bed at 3:00am (Friday morning)! Only to get up at 6 to get ready to present! We were 6th to present out of 8 groups. We finished up at lunch and then had more speakers that afternoon. The entire class was doing the best we all could to stay awake, but it was hard! We were finally free about 5pm and I went to Applebee's with three other ladies and had the best time out of the entire week. We talked and laughed and laughed and talked. Then it was back to business because we had to study for our exam on Saturday morning. This exam wasn't as hard, but still tricky. After the exam, a few ladies and I walked around the Grove (it was Red/Blue weekend!) and then went to Holman Hall (the building I practically lived in my senior year at Ole Miss) for graduation. Yep, everyone in our class passed!

I had a great time and learned a lot that week, but part of me is glad it's over! I'll tell you more about Mrs. Wanda sometime when I have a minute.
