My husband: The mouse hunter
These are just a few titles that floated through my small head yesterday afternoon as I was stuck perched on top of my couch. For 45 minutes. In sheer terror. I'll spare the long drawn out story where I tell you about watching TV and seeing something out of the corner of my eye. I'll also spare you from reading about me realizing it was a mega-mouse all jacked up on mt. dew. I won't waste your time telling you how this mighty mouse was trained in martial arts (like that movie G-Force with the FBI trained guinea pigs) and I won't tell you how this fat and fast booger can climb furniture and 100 inches of fabric hanging from a curtain rod. Yes, you read that right. The mouse climbed UP MY CURTAIN to the rod, then realized there was no way out and ran back down the curtain. He/she also climbed on the back of our "fat chair" and rested a minute before continuing the torture. After the curtain climbing incident, he/she disappeared. I thought all my screaming and jumping gave it a heart attack and then I wouldn't have to worry with killing it {or Brad killing it}.
Brad finally comes in the door yielding our grilling spatula. He, at first, didn't hunt for the mouse. He just stood looking at me and trying not to laugh (that would not have been smart on his part). So I point and tell him where the creature is at. Brad moves one thing at a time (basket with throws, airplane studying books, his Carhart coat and then finally the big fat chair. NO MOUSE! He then relaxes and tells me I'm crazy. I beg to differ and force him to keep looking. He either crawled up in Brad's flying bag OR he's in the chair. He was somewhere and Brad needed to find him. He turns the chair upside down and still no mouse. He peeks and moves and rattles the chair and still no mouse. He was about to give up when he looked at me and smiled like "I found it! He's going to die!" Let me tell you this, at this point Brad was still thinking it was funny. Ok, now, he rattles the chair some more and ZOOOOOM! Mighty Mouse jumped up out of the chair and landed on the floor. He then proceeded to run and hide under the couch. Brad flipped it over and I screamed (I saw it huddled under the couch). I told him where he was so he could get to that spot to whack him with the metal spatula. Next, Brad flips the couch over and the little joker goes running up under our desk. Ok, remember me telling you Brad still thought it was funny? Not anymore. Brad is a hunter and he was not happy that a mouse was getting the best of him. At this point he agreed the mouse was BIG and FAST. See, I don't exaggerate. Even when I'm perched on top of an end table screaming like a kid. So, the mouse comes running out again-this time I think I saw it laughing- and Brad goes flying down in the floor on his knees and starts whacking the carpet with our metal spatula. He mouse escapes to torture him again and this time Mighty Mouse wasn't so lucky! He was DEAD. YAY FOR BRAD!!! He picked him up and carried him out way into the back yard to dispose of his fat little mouse body. We were worried Amos would find his body and eat him. Amos? Remember my 150+ pound Mastiff? Would you like to know where he was while the mouse hunt was happening? He was in the kitchen, sound asleep. Yep, at one point when I was screaming he came over to the doorway (we have a baby gate up) and laid down. I guess that was the closest he could get to me to "protect" me. Although, I would have loved to see him running toward me and knocking down the gate on his way. BUT, I also didn't want Amos to meet Mighty Mouse because I didn't want Amos to think he was a treat and eat him in my floor. YUCK.
I think it worked out in a best-case-scenario-type way. However, Brad could have been a little faster getting home. I would also like to thank my parents who stayed on the phone with me the whole time I was on top of our living room furniture screaming like a school girl watching Jason v. Freddy. Sorry about your ear, dad!!

So is this one....

My door wreath... was on my front door, but didn't show up against the red so I moved it to the back. Amos wasn't too happy!
Didn't turn out exactly like I wanted it
