Memorial Day/Weekend

Don't you just looooove three day weekends? I do! Instead of rambling on like I normally do, I feel a bullet-point list coming along! HA!
Friday:
  • Worked til 5 then met a friend for dinner at Mike's. We ended up staying there and talking from 5-9! We haven't seen each other in a while so it was nice to catch up :)
Saturday:
  • Cleaned the apartment {blah}
  • Shopped for a dress to wear to an upcoming wedding!
  • Grocery shopped
  • Brad got in about 6ish
  • Ate with Brad
  • Went to a friends' house for a cookout/party. They just built their house and it was very nice!
  • Stayed out too late- I think we're getting too old for that!
Sunday:
  • Early service at church
  • Ate lunch with Brad's parents and sister
  • Grocery shopped for him
  • Had ice cream as my "Sweet Saturday/Sunday" and it was yummo! Birthday Cake ice cream in a waffle cone :)
  • Watched a little tv
Monday: {Happy Memorial Day!!}
  • Slept late {8am} because Amos kept waking me up throughout the night which is not like him at all!
  • Had McDonald's happy meal for "breakfast" since we missed the 10:30 cut off time
  • Visited Brad's grandparents-- his grandfather fell out of bed and busted his chin open {OUCH!}
  • Cut down and removed a large part of a tree in Brad's grandparents' yard.
  • Grilled out with the in-laws
  • Packed Brad up and sent him back to AR

Brad next to the limb he cut up and I hauled onto the trailer...

The limbs were down in the ground almost a foot deep!

Brad's cute grandparents! They both turn 86 this year!
For the record, I should tell you that it was hard work keeping up with Granny! She has more energy and stamina than a 20 something does!

That's all I did this weekend. What did you do? :)

Friday Five or Fifteen?!

I used to do this thing called "Friday Five" a very long time ago. It's been so long that I thought I would try to get back into the habit of posting again... Anywho, let's start off with five random things:

1. Amos has never been fond of storms, but he's never really been afraid of them either. Until now. This Wednesday we were supposed to have more bad weather {in fact, Brad was sent home from work and told to find some place safe}. We've had a few spells in the past few weeks and Amos hasn't really acted up. Until now. Brad was so tired when he got in Wednesday that he ended up falling asleep on the couch. I was watching the radar so I knew when it was supposed to hit. First the rain picked up, then the lightening and finally loud roars of thunder. You could almost feel the high winds inside of our little apartment. It was right at bedtime so I was doing the bedtime routine {washing my face, letting Amos out, taking my nightly meds, etc...} and of course it would be time for Amos to go potty before bedtime. Do you know how hard it is to make a dog that size go potty in heavy rain/winds and constant lightening and thunder? Nearly impossible. He finally got outside and then froze! I could read his mind-- "NO WAY I'M GETTING OUT IN THIS. MOM IS NUTS IF SHE THINKS I'M GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO MY BUSINESS RIGHT NOW?!?!" After much work on both of our parts he finally finished up and ran back inside. I dried him off and WHAM?! More heavy thunder and lightening. The house shook and the lights flickered and you could hear loud pops! I was determined to go to bed and not worry too much. {Silly me}. Next thing I know, my sweet Amos is barking and jumping and attempting to howl every time something happened. Thunder? BARK! Lightening? BARK! JUMP! More thunder? BARK! {Brad still sleeping- by now he is in the fetal position and completely unaware of anything}. Loud bowling ball alley sounding thunder? BARK! JUMP! HOWL! BARK! BARK! Surely you get the point. Now, at this time I have crawled out of the bed and I am in the floor with him and he is shaking like a leaf out in the storm. The thunderstorm lasted 47 hours almost an hour. I was completely beside myself by then and laying in the floor with Amos trying to keep him calm. It was a long night. So, if you find yourself down and out just picture me laying in the floor trying to console my sweet, terrified 190 pound English Mastiff while my *&%*#%& darling husband slept in the fetal position.

2. Kayla and I went to watch Something Borrowed last night and I loved it! No, it wasn't as good as the book, BUT it was a great movie. I hear there is going to be a part two- Something Blue- so I'm excited about that as well!

3. Before the movie started we watched several previews and have started our list of what we want to watch next. First up is Abduction and the next one is One Day.

4. Monday is Memorial Day {and my three day weekend}! Woot woot!! I have absolutely no plans at this point, but I'm sure something will come up. Brad doesn't know his weekend work schedule, but maybe he'll get to come in and grill me a burger!

5. Tomorrow is Sweet Saturday, but at this point I'm not in the mood for ice cream {HELLO? WHAT?!?! This is a first. Period. Ever.}. I'm really wanting a Big Mac {hold the onion and pickle}! HA! I don't want to eat all of it- just a few bites of that burger and special sauce to eat with a small handful of French fries. YUM.

6. Kayla and I "splurged" on the kid meal {this eating healthy thing is slowly, slowly, slowly getting better} at the Malco last night- tiny order of popcorn and drink along with some fruit snacks! Actually, it was probably a solid adult serving- portion sizes are nuts in America! We ate it slowly and tried to make it last as long as we could {or at least that's what I did}.

7. While we were waiting on the movie to start I noticed my grandmother come in all by herself. I motioned for her to come sit with us and she did. She had brought Savannah and a couple of friends to watch a movie. It was fun getting to spend a few minutes with her!

8. Last Friday, I showed the house to a couple. They seemed very interested in it; in fact, they said they were going to the bank Monday. Today is Friday. I haven't heard from them. Not at all. No "hey, we're working on paperwork." No "we were denied a loan". No "we changed our mind". No "my husband got abducted by aliens." Nothing. Rude. Very rude.

9. While at the branch today I was offered a fun size Snickers bar. I said "no". I deserve a treat for saying no, right?! :)

10. I had a breakfast meal from McDonald's this morning. We always eat out on Friday mornings but I've been trying to find something healthy to eat for breakfast at a fast food place and haven't had much luck. Anyway, I had hotcakes and they were melt-in-your-mouth good. So, to make up for the breakfast I had, I skipped lunch and had two packs of 100 calorie cookies. HA! Yes, I realize that is not the best decision I've made, but today has been nutso so that's what I went with.

11. I just realized that on my agenda this weekend will be making sure our grass gets mowed at our house and that our new flag gets put out on the porch. Brad better come in because I'm done and over mowing!

12. My sister, brother-in-law and niece will be camping this weekend so we won't get to see them :(

13. My new swimsuits came in yesterday {early!}. They fit, but that's all I'll say. I have to return a few pieces since I bought multiple to try on, but I ended up with two sets!

14. My new swimsuits will be displayed somewhere very visable in my aparment so I can remind myself that in less than three weeks I'll be wearing them!! Also, I will take a pic and save it as the background on my phone. Every little reminder helps, right?! :)

15. I found a few more pictures on mom's camera I wanted to post. These are from my birthday :)

This is my "deer in the headlights" look. What do you think?

What I'm Loving Wednesday

This is my first What I'm Loving Wednesday post {and maybe not my last} so hang in there with me until I am somewhat making sense :) HA!

First up... what I'm loving today is... my new Tom's! I have been looking for these for a while now {apparently Ash in a size 6 1/2 to 7 is popular} and I finally got them last week! I wore them Saturday for the first time and loved them. I'm a flip flop kind of gal and these were right up my alley. Now, I want more!
 Next up are these linen drawstring pants... I am really loving these pants, but not loving the price tag :( NY and Co, if you are listening I'd really like you to put them half off ASAP, please and thank you!
 I am loving this new green tank that is on it's way to my doorstep! I tried it on in the store last week, but decided to order if off their website {along with a new swimsuit, but that will NOT be talked about just yet}
 I'm loving the fact that Monday is Memorial Day and I don't have to work!
I'm also loving the fact that we have such brave and courageous men and women risking their lives for us!
Happy Memorial Day!!

 I am loving these Rainbows! I got my first pair in May of 2007 and they are still in great condition. I wear them all the time. They are so comfy. I ran into a shoe store the other day and saw these. Now, I'm trying to save money and be the good wife, but I really want these! We'll have to see...
 I am loving that there is sunshine in the forecast. We have had such nasty weather lately {tornadoes, floods, freakish highs and lows}. We have more nasty weather in the forecast for tonight, but then clear skies until next week!!
 I am loving the Sonic Double Stuf Oreo Blast. It is like eating a tiny piece of Heaven. It's a limited edition so run, don't walk, to your nearest Sonic and try one! {Kayla and I have created Sweet Saturday since we're all into eating healthy the other 6 days. This was my "sweet" treat on Saturday}.
 I am loving that I'm finally getting to watch this movie tomororw night! I loved the book {and Something Blue} so I can't wait to see the movie. I KNOW that the movie is never as good as the book, but I think it will still be a good movie}.
I think that's about all I can think of for now! I do love my sweet husband and Mr. Amooster, but I'll save those for another day :) Happy Wednesday!!!

Last time, maybe?

I keep finding pictures so I keep posting them! Ha! These were found on mom's camera; I had forgotten all about them until yesterday when she asked me to work on her camera.  These are better than the ones I've already posted and since I use this as a "diary" of sorts I'll post as many as I want :)

I is for I spy...

Saturday, May 14 I headed west to Arkansas! I noticed after I drove over the TN/AR bridge that water was still very high, but I didn't have my camera out so I couldn't snap any pictures. Later on that afternoon Brad and I headed even farther west to McCrory, to Pug's house. Along the way we saw this... more flooded fields! Notice that hay bell in the bottom corner?

This was an entire field, completely under water!

See the tops of the fence posts?

This is the southern part of Crowley's Ridge in AR. From what I've heard, this area became famous in 1937 after the MS river flooded. When the river did flood, it came as far out as Crowley's Ridge which is over 40 miles from the river!

On our way to Pug's, he talked with Brad and told him that my car would not make it down his road. There had been more flooding and we would need Brad's truck to make it. We turned around and got Brad's truck {and me a pair of boots}. When we got close to his road, we saw this... Apparently, a catfish farmer decided to take matters into his own hands. He used dynamite to blow a levee to save his fish ponds, but in turn, it flooded a very large area! That man is now in jail :) It's probably safer for him there anyway...

The area between the grass and dirt is Pug's road!

Yeah, my car would have never made it!

Pug's driveway {or where it normally is} and his house

Me sportin' Brad's boots!

I put away the camera until Sunday when I was headed back over the bridge. This is the Mississippi, er, the overflow from the Mississippi!

See the sign?

Power poles!

Definitely something I've never seen before and hope I never see again. I just wish the pictures would do it justice. It was actually a lot worse, but this is what I could get... the other time I was in charge of driving :) I don't think the other cars really cared for me passing them while snapping pictures out the window, but oh well!

Oops! More Birthday pics

Sunday, May 1st, Brad decided we should go to Savannah's Fly-In after church... as in- Sunday after church he tells me we're going... I'm in dress clothes and heels! Oh, well... the weather was pretty and it was something {free} to do and Brad really enjoys the fly-ins. I should say this first, the weather was NOT pretty that morning. It was rainy so that scared off a lot of the planes.

Crossing the dam in Pickwick {aka Pickywicky in Brad's vocabulary}

This little set up was there... do you see the tiny boat next to the HUGE boat?
Before I could check out the boat, Brad had me check out the planes! So I snapped a pic and pretended to pay very close attention...

Boat time! Look how itty bitty? {and completely not safe in my book} I'm not quite sure where Brad's legs would fit in this thing. {Sidenote: this was our conversation: Brad, stand by the baby boat and let me take your picture. Brad: "Uh, why?" Me: "Because weeee BLOG and I need it!" He said "I have no idea what you're talking about" and I said "just do it!!" :)}
The daddy boat! It was huge-- can you see the man walking by at the end? It was three times as long as the Ford hauling it! {Brad was done posing at this point...}

Ultra-glider something er other...

See, that's why I told you about the rain... because there weren't any planes at the fly-in. They didn't want to "fly-in" to the rain! Next stop... the dam again!

Monday, the second, Brad didn't have to work so he stayed in MS and we had movie night! He surprised me with movie candy {FYI: the Goobers were the only candy I liked, but hey... he tried! A for effort, babe!}. We watched Little Fockers and laughed some and were bored to tears during the other 80% of the movie.

Oh, well... that concludes the birthday post... I promise. There are no more pictures and nothing else to tell :) I'll be back later with another post. Yep, another?! Can you believe it?! I can't... I might actually get back on track with my alphabet...
