Happy New Year
This year Brad and I didn't have any big plans for NYE. I was supposed to go into work for about an hour and a half, but that turned into four long hours. After that I came home and started taking down the Christmas things. Brad started burning boxes. We just couldn't make our mind up and finally Brad asked me to call Outback {our favorite place} and they could get us in at 4:30. I should tell you it was 3:30 and we live about 45 minutes from the restaurant!
We flew into hectic mode and was on the road in less than 20 minutes. I didn't have time to put together my cute NYE outfit I had in mind, but it all worked out. We had a nice meal then headed back home to play Wii for a bit. Then we watched Amelia {movie with Richard Gere and Hilary Swank about Amelia Earhart}. The movie was ok, but a little on the boring side. Brad and I both were asleep by 11:30. I woke up about 12:15 and said "Happy New Year" then dozed back off. I was so tired- I got in bed about 1:30. I even slept late! That was nice.
Today has been busy with taking down and packing away all of the Christmas things and cleaning my house- bedroom, bathrooms, living room and kitchen then catching up on laundry. Not exactly how I wanted to spend my Saturday, but at least I'll be free to take a much needed nap after church tomorrow!
Hope everyone had a Happy New Year. I have no idea what 2011 will hold! I do have a few resolutions, but I'm never good at keeping them! I looked back at my resolutions from last year and I don't think I kept any of them!
Just for fun, I'd like to go ahead and list...
- Take more pictures of life in general- one day we'll look back and our pictures will tell the story- our will be fuzzy!
- Take advantage of my new camera tripod and get some shots with Brad
- Learn how to use my sewing machine and create some things for Chloe {and maybe Amos} and use the embroidery function a few times
- Declutter this house!
I think those are all attainable this year. Anything else will be icing on the cake!
Happy New Year!
Christmas 2010 Part 2
We visited with Dad's side of the family and ate a tasty lunch. We didn't hang around too long. Brad's back was bothering him and we had to get home to let Amos out. I talked with Mamaw about sewing and she's going to help me learn how to use my new machine!
We got home and hooked up some of our new toys (Blue Ray player and Wii). I really wanted a nap, but nope! It was time for my final stop. Brad had to skip this one so I was flying solo. We had soups and snacks and played dirty Santa after the kids opened their gifts. It was nice to hang out with the whole family since I had to miss the yearly Christmas family vacation this year. I couldn't take off work due to the shortage, but the family had a great time in the mountains.
It's such a busy, tiring, stressful time traveling around from place to place, but I'm so thankful to have such a large, close family.
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
Christmas 2010
I headed out to the Dixon's that afternoon and visited with mom's paternal side of the family. I skipped out a little early so that I could make it to Brad's family. We got to visit with them then went to Brad's parents' house for a few minutes so Brad could lay in the floor.
We got home and exchanged gifts with each other. I let him open his first. He got a new VDC {Vansandt duck call}, a cord thingy to hook his MP3 player up to his headset while flying, and an Under Armor pullover. Next, he hands me one gift that had been semi-hidden behind the tree. It was a camera tripod that I've wanted since last year! Brad and I never, ever, ever have pictures made together so now set my timer and snap away! :) He waited a bit then got sneaky.
He told me Santa brought me something else and that it was a new headset. Um, yeah, yippee. HA! I open the headset bag and there are three jewelry store boxes. I opened one up and it was a Pandora bracelet with three charms; a red one, a green one and a present. He had picked them out all by himself. My next box was a sapphire and diamond ring! I had asked for one, never thinking he would get me something like that- we promised not to spend a lot. My third box was a gift card to the jewelry store so that I could get a few more charms for my bracelet or return my ring and put that with the card to get me something else. He was afraid I wouldn't like it! Brad did good! Very good!
Next up, Christmas Day!
What Happened?
First, Brad and I made a trip to Stuttgart, Arkansas {and several other small AR towns}. We went to the huge Mack's PW sale on September 29 {or was it Oct 1?} We met Pug in some town the went shopping! We both loaded up on things- I got t-shirts and a pullover and Brad got plenty of "toys". After that it was time to eat and then the boys wanted to do some target shooting. As sort of a payment for all the manly-ness, Pug took us to another town to do a little girl shopping! Hello Hay's! They have a huge tent sale and then a nice selection inside. I didn't take too long picking out some new jeans {funny story, Pug is a much better shopper-helper than Brad-- especially picking out jeans :)}. Then off to yet another town to eat. I can't remember the name, but they give HUGE servings of food. HUGE. Plus they had a salad bar/vegetable bar. We made it home sometime around midnight. There was a downside to that day- while I was off work having fun with Brad, my boss was laying off six people. Six. This is when I stopped blogging...
I started helping out in Operations right after that. I went from working 8:15-4:30/5 to working 8-630ish. Plus it's non stop the entire time I'm there. Oh, and since I'm so busy during the day, I got my own company laptop to work from home when I need to. I'm ex.haus.ted when I get home. Poor Brad learned after about two weeks that if he wanted to eat, then he better get to cooking! :) I have no time to blog at work- heck, I barely have time to think at work. Then when I get home I can barely keep my eyes open. I know, I know... blah blah blah, I'm thankful for my job, but geez! To make things worse, one girl went on maternity leave. So I'm basically doing three jobs now. I'll be glad when January 31 gets here - that's her first day back.
I haven't been doing so hot with picture taking either. Since I left off, Chloe and Courtney both celebrated birthdays, we went to Arkansas, we've celebrated Thanksgiving at Mama Lynn's and Brad's parents and we've had Christmas at my parents', the Dixon side, the Taylor side, Brad's parents, the Tennyson side and Aunt Biggen's. I don't have near enough pictures!
Today's the first and I'm watching the State game {aka Gator bowl} for the second time so I think I'm going to recap Christmas.
